How to Increase Google AdSense CTR
This is true that you can make money from Google AdSense pay per click program. As the name indicated, you will get money only when some of your visitors click on the ads. It means that you may have millions of visitors to your blog but your online income is zero if no one clicked. It is your decisions to make money from blog or not but if you are really interested then CTR (Click through Rate) is the most important factor on which your online income depends. So the simple equation is, Higher CTR equals to higher Google AdSense Revenue.
We can increase the CTR by very simple ways and these all are proven methods. Here I am going to share some basic tips which will help you to increase your AdSense click through rate.
1) Put your Ads “Above the fold”
In simple word, your ads must be visible without scrolling down when visitor landed to your page. When we decided to make money from blog then we shouldn’t heisted to load the ads before our entire page loads. It doesn’t mean that only ads should visible while landing, your content must visible along with ads. People are visiting to our blog or website for information and if they saw only ads on landing, there might be chances leaving the page instantly. So the best way is, keep your ads above the fold along with content.
2) Avoid the Titles above Ads
On many websites I have seen the word ‘Sponsored Links’ above the ads. The word ‘Sponsored Links’ and ‘Advertisements’ are allowed by Google above AdSense Ads but why we should tell our visitors separately that these are ads when Google already puts ‘Ads by Google’. Many from us don’t like to click on Ads unless those are really useful to us. Never use such titles but don’t try to remove’ Ads by Google’ from ads by any way.
3) Blend the Ads with Page Color Scheme
Initially AdSense publisher are used to separate the ads by using dark color on background or large fonts but this method loose its success in very short time and now a days matching the colors of ads with the color scheme of site is most popular which is also known as ‘Blending the Ads’. The more the Ads looks like part of your site, the higher CTR you will get. Matching the font family and size with your page content will definitely increase the click through rate. I am getting higher CTR from this experiment. Never blend Ads within content; it is against Terms and Conditions of Google AdSense. For dark background, showing ads separately works good.
4) Get Targeted Ads
You will get better CTR when ads displayed on page are matching to your content. Write on one subject at one time. Don’t mix your various interests in one blog or website. Remove all the irrelevant links and information from your website so you will get targeted ads. If you are familiar with HTML then you can use section targeting. It allows you to suggest sections of your text and HTML content that you would like to emphasize when matching ads to your site’s content. Be careful while using Section targeting.
5) Use Proper Ad Formats
We have different ad formats to display AdSense ads out of that large rectangle, wide skyscraper and 120×600 skyscrapers are tends to getting more CTR. The use of ad format is mostly depending on width of your page but ads in wider format can be read easily. Keep in mind that while these ad sizes typically perform well, but that really depends on your site structure.
Honestly saying, these tips don’t increase your CTR dramatically by overnight. There is no magic formula in AdSense earnings. You have to implement these tips and have to keep patience. I would like to suggest you to experiment with background color of ads, corner style. If you are getting repeated traffic then it will best to rotate placement of ads. This will avoid color blindness of your regular visitors. You have to find out what works best for your site, not others. If you have any more tips or thoughts, please share it by comment.
